Early Childhood Centre Under Construction

Toa Developments are excited to be progressing the first stage of the Kenepuru Landing Community Hub with the construction of an 80-tamariki, Early Childcare Centre (ECC) and supporting road infrastructure.

The easily visible and accessible ECC building will be clad in kowhai yellow, referencing the ‘sky glow’ of the Rangituhi hills at sunset. Both the building form and colour combined emphasise the ECC as a ‘beacon’ and can be used as a point of orientation within the wider development – much like the Rangituhi maunga. The simple roof line reflects the maunga with the undulating ridges and valleys subtly captured in the western louvre screen form, rhythm, and orientation. The importance of reflecting this prominent landscape feature within the design provides a sense of place for the ECC tamariki, kaioko and surrounding whānau.
